We’re back!

After what has been an incredibly challenging and difficult time for everyone around the world, we are pleased to be able to announce that the Across Asia Youth Film Festival will return in 2022!

Returning to its original venue at Tanglin Trust School in Singapore, AAYFF 2022 will take place on the 19th of May 2022 in a hybrid form, where we hope you will be able to join us online for the fourth edition of the Awards. The live event will bring back the original format and aim of the festival by showcasing the amazing young filmmakers we have in the region through many different categories and ages.


Who can participate?

The AAYFF is open to ALL YOUNG PEOPLE who are currently enrolled in primary/junior, high schools, senior schools or colleges throughout the region. Films can be submitted in any one of four age divisions:

  • 10 - 12 AGE GROUP (Junior / Elementary)

  • 13 - 15 AGE GROUP (Middle / High school)

  • 16 - 18 AGE GROUP (Senior / High School)

  • 19 - 21 AGE GROUP (College / University)


Film Categories

  • Narrative – any film that is primarily a narrative

  • Genre Film – any film that primarily fits a specific genre convention (Horror, Comedy, etc)*

  • Animation – any form of animation

  • Documentary – any subject!

  • Experimental – any film that does not fit the mould of typical filmmaking.

  • Short short – any film 60 secs or under

Film Duration

In order to be accepted in the AAYFF competition, your submitted film must adhere to the following durations (including credits).

10 - 12 AGE GROUP – No longer than 3 MINUTES

13 - 15 AGE GROUP – No longer than 5 MINUTES

16 - 18 AGE GROUP – No longer than 7 MINUTES

19 - 21 AGE GROUP – No longer than 7 MINUTES
